I'm thru with the GPL

Free software is great. Seeing your own project being used and maintained by somebody else is great, too. But being expunged from the version history is a really bitter thing to experience. I'm moving my projects to Apache License, which requires attribution.

  1. Fully understandable. I'm against GPL as one just can be, and I'd prefer using an BSD License any time. Unfortunatly the most important thing I really need (vmware worstation) does not run nativly. And so to some extend I'm stuck with Linux. But still not too bad....

  2. You can add an attribution requirement and the code will still be GPL3 compatible. Not sure about GPL2, but I think so.
